Films entertain, challenge, and connect us in unexpected ways. What were your general impressions of this piece? What worked, what didn’t, and what will you remember most?
This film might only be 7 minutes, but it is filled with meaning! AND I loved her different looks, she was fabulous! And that made the message even stronger.
I agree - clever ending!
People underestimate the importance of costuming but it can really sell a story!
She looked so different with each look. Clothes can really be a mask.
I found “Blind Date” enjoyable for a number of reasons. The pacing, for instance, was remarkably effective I thought . . . and the spare dialogue was integral to this. The costume changes were wonderful. I laughed outloud as well as was subdued to silent admiration by Divinia Foye’s stunning beauty. I knew her “date” would be blind by the third costume change, but was no less entertained. In fact, the strength of Foye’s performance (and the writing and directing) lies, in part anyway, in the introspection - I’m tempted to say the intimacy - of the brief fashion shows. And Michelle’s final comment is not merely a prediction of what may have happened to her sensibilities after she & her husband met, but also a comment on what had happened to her before she opened the door.
